A Small Act of Kindness

While we've had a super busy and fun week at the America's Mart trade show in Atlanta this week (and met so many of you!), we wanted to share a little story with you from one of our team members in the US office to round off. Recently, Pretty You London have been touched by the story of 14-year-old Dalton Allison, who was diagnosed with a very rare blood cancer - Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hematuria (PNH). This is especially poignant for us, since Dalton is the son of one of our team members' school friends. To treat his condition, Dalton will need a bone marrow transplant and luckily, of his 8 siblings, his brother Morgan is a match. Unfortunately though this will be a long, painful and expensive procedure for the whole family. They will be headed to Seattle on 20th July to begin the process, but it will be a difficult six months ahead since the family will be having to live between their home in Burbank and Seattle while trying to work and look after the rest of their children as well. Here at Pretty You London we really wanted to help out in any way we could and we donated five pairs of slippers to a silent auction, all of which ended up selling for over $100 each! The community in the area also organised a spaghetti dinner with all items donated, selling at $5/plate. A couple of members of the Pretty You Team were there to volunteer and lend their support and, including the items that were also up for auction that day, the community raised $7000 for the Allison family within 2 hours. Ultimately, it doesn't matter if you're just one person or a whole group. When we join forces, we really can make a difference, and the Pretty You team was very humbled to have been part of this worthy cause and to have done our bit to help in any way we could.
