1. Exfoliate - but not too much!
Exfoliating is still a key part of your beauty regime, for the face and for the body, even in the cooler months as it allows your skin to resurface and release your inner glow. Your skin will definitely thank you in the long run and so will your beauty products as exfoliating helps them to work better and go further.
2. Moisturise
Moisturising our faces is a definite must and we all should be doing this twice daily… But moisturising our body’s doesn’t always come as naturally to some of us (guilty). It can often feel like an extra chore after your shower when you want to just throw your Pretty You PJ’s on, but it is an essential step in maintaining your summer glow as it allows your skin have a barrier from the damaging pollution of the world and creates an even base for self tanners. Some of our favourite moisturisers are above, there’s even a spray on one that would solve all our lazy day issues!
3. Self Tanner
We all know by now that the sun is very damaging and dangerous for our skin. It’s recommended to continue using SPF in the winter months even when the sun is not out as the UV rays can still harm us through the clouds. If your body is covered, your face probably isn’t so maintain that face SPF routine. Fake tan is a perfect alternative to the sun as it takes less time to build your tan and doesn’t harm your skin, win-win! Although, let’s take our time applying this one, we don’t want any tan mishaps! Some of our faves are above.
4. Hydrating showers
We recently read online that long hot showers can remove moisture from the skin and strip it of its natural oils. By changing up our shower routines from long hot showers, to shorter, lukewarm showers it can help reduce this damaging factor. Harvard recommends keeping it to 10 minutes max per day, not always practical but worth a try to save our skin!
5. Glow-boosting ingredients
You are what you eat has never been more relevant than in maintaining your summer glow. Autumnal foods such as carrots, pumpkins and sweet potatoes contain skin-nourishing nutrients like beta-carotenes, to help even out your glowing complexion. Dig in!
6. Bronzer & Highlighters
It’s not everyones cup of tea to fake tan their face, especially with acne prone skin, as it can clog your pores and go uneven quite quickly. A brilliant alternative to keeping your healthy glow without fake tan is using bronzers and highlighters. By drawing the light to the high points of your face with highlighter and shadowing the contours with bronzer it creates not only a slimline look but also a glowing complexion. Some of our favourites are above!
We hope you have a brilliant start to the Autumn months, let us know if you tried any of our tips in the comments below!
